This magnificent chair is a historical reproduction with a rich history going back 200 years.
In a series celebrating the Althorp estate and its residents, the noble Spencer family, this specific piece is taken from an important period in British history. The original was crafted to commemorate Admiral Nelson's victory at the battle of Trafalgar and was actually crafted from timber taken from Nelson's ship, the H.M.S Victory. George John, the Second Earl of Spencer, was Nelson's patron and the chair commemorating the famous battle was displayed in his home, Althorp.
This story is told through every fine detail on the chair. The handcarved back of the chair is designed to look like a ship's transom and adorned with the Royal Coat of Arms and two twin victory wreaths. The word "Victory" and two cannons flanking the arms of the chair define this chair not just as a historical design but as a historical landmark.
