It's rare that a business maintains its brand, mission, and values for the better part of a century, so when one does, it's noteworthy. With 16 furniture stores throughout the Sunshine State, it's hard to imagine a version of Florida without Baer's — and fortunately, we don't have to.
Baer's Furniture is marking our 78th Anniversary this year, and as a family-owned, community-oriented business, we want to invite our neighbors and loyal customers to join the celebration.
A Little About Baer's Furniture
Many Florida residents have pieces they've bought from Baer's Furniture adorning their living rooms, dining rooms, bedrooms, and other spaces. But most of them know little about our company. Here is a little bit about Baer's proud history.
The first Baer's store, Baer's Home Outfitters, was opened 78 years ago by founders Melvin and Lucile Baer in South Bend, Indiana in 1945 — the same year the Second World War ended.
It was in 1968 — 23 years after establishing the Indiana store — that Baer's opened its first Florida location in Dania Beach--where it remains open today.
Baer's Furniture has been a family-owned and operated business for four generations, and there have often been as many as a dozen Baer family members holding various positions in the company at any given point throughout its history.
Baer's Furniture's current President and CEO is the grandson of Melvin and Lucile Baer. Through this most recent round of promotions, many more Baer family members joined the senior management team, including several members of the fourth generation of Baers!
Baer's Furniture currently has 16 stores throughout the state of Florida. The newest and most northernmost location is in Jacksonville — a few minute's drive to the Florida-Georgia border — while their southernmost store is in Pinecrest, south of Miami. Baer's also has multiple stores along both coasts and several more in Central Florida.
Baer's Furniture focuses on offering its customers high-quality brands at competitive prices. They have been acknowledged for their involvement with charities like Moffitt Cancer Center, Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital, Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center, and others. The company has also been honored with the Spirit of Life award from City of Hope for their commitment to fighting cancer. As a member of many Florida communities, Baer's has frequently been at the center of multiple hurricane relief efforts throughout the years.
